"Although the Egret is obviously the subject of this piece, the back lighting is what I found to be intriguing. This light is best noticed flowing through the birds fine tail feathers and around his face. I used a wet into wet background technique to develop the feeling of morning mist. Dry brush technique lent itself well for creating the weathered post." - Jean

"Egrets and herons can be found in South Georgia marsh and wetlands. Typically found hunting alongside the water's edge. These graceful birds are stunning in the early morning sunlight. I have spent many a morning on my back patio with a coffee cup watching my heron, who I affectionaly have named Harry, fish along the edge of the pond. Jean's watercolor painting captures the peacefulness of the morning egret and the vibrancy of the warm sunshine here in the southern states. " -- Cindy, gallery owner, Flint River Gallery
"Jean's talent was obvious to me right away, and watercolor is a very difficult medium. Her interpretations of fiures that she portrays are bery much her own, and there is a sweetness in her paintings that comes trough, which is a reflection of her." Susan Burdette, nationally acclaimed watercolor artist from Oregon as quoted in SouthWest Georgia LIVING magazine, Sept/Oct 2006.
"To say that Jean Weiner is an optimist would be a vast understatement. As a cancer survior, she doesn't focus on the 'why did the happen to me' scenario and instead barrels ahead with a new leash on life...she paints wholehartedly and enters her pieces into echibits all of the reigion with no trepidation....
Weiner continues to focus on images of nature such as birds and frogs and also caters to the agricultural emphasis in the areaa by doing lots of cows, goats, mules, and roosters . " SouthWest Georgia LIVING magazine, article by Amy Leigh Tyson Sept/Oct 2006.
