"Ok, quick now..what color is galvanized metal? You probably said silver or gray. Me too. I never really took much time to notice the color of a mass-produced inexpensive building material that covers cotton gins, silos, and barns. When you add a little southern humidity, the metal turns red and orange with a little green. When you add the early evening sun, a contemporary painter, and dedication to her craft, you now wind up with some very unique paintings.

I have recently spent some time with Henrietta’s art work. After all the paintings are here in my gallery, so I get to see them almost every day. Since that time, I have begun to look at the buildings each time I take a drive to an Atlanta Art Gallery. I look at the peanut place in Sasser, Georgia on my way to Columbus. There is also a neat spot just past the Bojangles in the gas station with the biscuits, but before you get to the by-pass and that speed trap that gets everybody at least once. Or how about that other place just past Ty-Ty where they have the exotic fruit trees? Ever notice the color of those buildings?

If the sun is just right, the colors really are there. I don’t see them the way Henrietta sees them, but I am “still in training".
