This is a lovely, lighthearted painting by David Crown depicting a family scene on the beach with palm trees and ocean. In this beach painting the mother and her two children promenade across the sand with the bright noonday sun casting whimsical shadows across the forground.

Notice how the lines of the palm trees and the strong horizontal waves in the shoreline are all carefully excuted to keep your eye traveling around this canvas? The shapes of the shadows in the foreground are intentionally distorted in order to make this beach painting less predictable and more spontaneous.
